USC defensive lineman Deijon Laffitte enters NCAA transfer portal
Another USC player has entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal this spring as defensive lineman Deijon Laffitte went in on Thursday.
The 6-foot-2, 305-pound tackle did not play during the 2023 season while redshirting as a true freshman.
This is a blow at a position that USC already needed to add players during this transfer portal cycle. The Trojans previously lost interior linemen Isaiah Raikes and Stanley Ta’ufo’ou to the portal this spring. Ta’ufo’ou was not on the spring roster, but Raikes appeared to be a significant addition from Texas A&M and will instead suit up for Auburn this spring.

Laffitte was expected to contribute in some fashion this season. He recorded a sack in the spring game and looked as though he’d be a valuable young backup.
USC head coach Lincoln Riley was asked specifically about Laffitte late in spring ball.
“He’s getting better,” Riley said. “He was injured when he first got here. He’s been able to finally kind of get some momentum, get back on the field. He still kind of looks like a true freshman that you see some flashes and also you can tell that he missed a little bit of time in the fall and is still kind of working back from that.”
