Lincoln Riley is on record this spring — more than once — noting that the Trojans needed to add linemen (plural, on both sides of the ball) via the transfer portal, and yet thus far, they’ve swung and missed.

On Friday, USC extended an offer to former Colorado Buffaloes offensive tackle Isaiah Jatta. The 6′-6″ 320 lbs. OT appeared in 11 games for Colorado during the 2023 season. Another intriguing aspect of the Trojans’ offer, Jatta is a San Diego native who attended Helix High School. Before joining Coach Prime’s program, he attended Snow College in Utah

At Snow, Jatta was named a 2022 NJCAA Football 1st Team All-American and will have one year of eligibility remaining.

Lincoln Riley said multiple times this spring that he hoped to add one or two offensive linemen during the Spring Transfer window. USC hasn’t landed a single offensive lineman this offseason despite offering multiple players and while they’re not getting desperate, it should be noted that Jatta has been in the transfer portal since it opened.

While there will still be starting lineup questions to figure out this fall, one thing Riley has done since he took over the program was to increase size across all five positions. Adding Jatta would check off the box when it comes to adding more size and depth.

“I do think we’re going to have the ability right now to move more people off of the ball than we have had in the first two years,” Riley said. “We’ve got a little bit more mass and a little bit more girth with us. We’re starting to look more like the [offensive line] at USC ought to look like. I think that’s very exciting.”
