USC extends Andy Enfield's contract through 2027-28
USC head coach Andy Enfield is locked in with the Trojans with a new six-year contract, USC athletic director Mike Bohn announced Wednesday.
“We are thrilled to announce that we have signed Andy to a new six-year contract,” said Bohn in a statement from the school. “Andy has continued to meet and exceed every expectation we have set for him. In our three years working together, our men’s basketball program has enjoyed unprecedented success and the national landscape of college basketball has taken notice. That is a testament to Andy’s leadership of the program, our coaches and support staff, and our talented basketball players. Andy’s incredible accomplishments stand on their own. We are excited about the trajectory of our men’s basketball program with regards to results, recruiting, and the development of the young men on our team. We are committed to continuing to enhance and strengthen our program as we move ahead, and we are looking forward to the immediate opportunity to make another March Madness run.”
There have been persistent rumors that Enfield could be a candidate for the open job at Maryland. That’s a school that is just two hours from his hometown of Shippensburg, Pennsylvania. This is very good news for a USC basketball program. It gives it some real stability moving forward to continue on this upswing.
“I am so proud of the success our players have had on the court and academically,” Enfield said in a statement. “I want to thank President Carol Folt, Mike Bohn, Brandon Sosna and Paul Perrier for their support. Their impact on our program has been significant. I also want to acknowledge how fortunate I am to be surrounded by outstanding coaches and staff, and would like to recognize our fans and students because their enthusiasm and energy have been tremendous assets.
My family and I are very happy to be part of the Trojan Family. I feel great about the future of USC basketball in the Pac-12 and nationally.”
Enfield’s success at USC
Enfield is one of the most successful coaches in USC history. This year’s team set the school record for regular-season wins. His 2017 team set the school record for overall wins in a season, with 26. In nine years as head coach, his Trojan teams have set school records for wins in two, three, four, five and six-year periods. This all with a program that had won 20 games in two years prior to his arrival.

Enfield earned Pac-12 Coach of the Year honors last season. He guided the Trojans to an Elite Eight appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
It took Enfield a couple of seasons to get going. He won just 11 games his first year and 12 games his second. But the Trojans won 21 games in Year 3. And they’ve now posted 20-win seasons in six of the past seven years. USC has also suffered six or fewer conference losses three times in the past five years. The last time the Trojans lost just six conference games before that was the 2001-02 season.
Enfield has also found tremendous recruiting success at USC. He’s landed multiple five-star prospects and seven-consecutive Top-30 classes. The 2022 recruiting class has three four-star prospects and a high-three star, in Vince Iwuchukwu, Tre White, Kijani Wright and Oziyah Sellers.
The No. 21 USC Trojans begin the Pac-12 Tournament on Thursday night at 8:30 pm. They will take on the winner of the Utah – Washington game, which takes place tonight.
