The undefeated USC Trojans (6-0, 4-0) are still a to-10 team in the latest AP poll. Barely.

The Trojans slid in the poll again despite a win and now sit at No. 10. USC has posted three straight closer-than-expected wins and fallen in the AP poll each time. USC sat as high as No. 5 in the Week 4 poll before the win at Arizona State knocked them down to No. 8. The Colorado win moved them to No. 9 and now the triple overtime win has USC at No. 10, down one spot as Oklahoma shot up from No. 12 to No. 5 on the strength of its rivalry win against Texas.

USC remains the third-ranked Pac-12 team as Washington and Oregon stayed unchanged at Nos. 7 and 8 this week.

Of not in this poll is that Texas stayed ahead of USC and for the first time all season, the undefeated Trojans are behind a one-loss team.

The Trojans should have an opportunity to impress voters this coming weekend. Notre Dame’s loss to Louisville knocked the Fighting Irish down to No. 21. But USC still has a chance at a ranked win on the road, which would certainly stop the pattern of sliding down in the polls after a win.

And USC still has arguably more chances than any other program this season to make a huge impression down the stretch. The Trojans have six more regular season games to play and five of those teams are among the top 21 teams in this week’s AP poll.
