USC lands commitment from Texas defensive lineman Gus Cordova
The USC recruiting run continued into Sunday evening as three-star defensive lineman Gus Cordova became the latest prospect to announce his commitment to the Trojans. Cordova was another one of the standout unofficial visitors at USC this weekend.
The 6-foot-4, 250-pound defensive lineman is the nation’s No. 438 overall prospect in the 2025 On3 Industry Rankings but holds an impressive offer sheet. Baylor, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas and Texas A&M have all offered, with the Ducks, Sooners and Longhorns already hosting Cordova on unofficial visits.
Cordova posted 65 tackles, five tackles for loss, two sacks and seven quarterback hurries during his junior season at Austin (Tex.) Lake Travis, the same school that produced current USC tight end Lake McRee.
Cordova’s commitment continues a phenomenal run of pledges for USC throughout the day on Sunday.
The day opened with the massive news of five-star defensive lineman Justus Terry flipping his commitment from Georgia to USC. The nation’s No. 8 overall recruit gave new USC defensive line coach Eric Henderson his first major recruiting win in this class. USC added a commitment from four-star edge defender Isaiah Gibson later in the day. The 6-foot-4, 240-pound Gibson is the nation’s No. 37 overall prospect and No. 2 edge defender.

The Trojans also landed a couple of talented defensive backs. The first commitment came from Class of 2026 cornerback Dominick Kelly, the nation’s No. 167 overall prospect and No. 15 cornerback in his class.
The 2025 class got another addition in four-star safety Hylton “Drake” Stubbs. Stubbs took a recent unofficial visit to USC and the Trojans did enough to earn the commitment despite Stubbs taking a visit to Texas A&M right afterward. The 6-foot-2, 175-pound Florida safety is the nation’s No. 67 prospect and No. 6 safety.
Cordova’s commitment makes five pledges for the Trojans on Sunday and gives USC’s 2025 class five committed prospects as well. The four defensive standouts join five-star quarterback Julian “JuJu” Lewis, the nation’s No. 9 overall prospect and No. 2 quarterback.
