USC lands elite K/P Ryon Sayeri out of Los Angeles
USC has landed a commitment from one of the top kickers in the nation in the 2024 class. Los Angeles (Cal.) Chaminade kicker Ryon Sayeri announced on Tuesday afternoon he will attend USC.
His commitment is as a preferred walk-on.
According to Chris Sailer Kicking, a popular specialist ranking service, Sayeri is ranked as a 6-star prospect. This is designated as a “FBS Power 5 Freshman Year Starter, Scholarship Pick” level talent. It is the highest a specialist can be ranked.
Just some of his accolades include: 2022 Vegas XXXIX Class of 2024 Kickoff Champion, 2022 CA Spring Camp Field Goal Champion, 2022 Vegas XL Class of 2024 Kickoff Champion, and 2024 Adidas All-American Bowl on NBC Kicker.
Sayeri, out of Los Angeles (Cal.) Chaminade was one of the specialists competing in the All-American Bowl, of which two Trojans took part in in January.
But Sayeri was one of the few uncommitted prospects at the event, which is not all that surprising given he is a specialist, and their recruitments are often a bit different.
I talked with Sayeri following the game to get an understanding of where he was at with his recruitment.

He told me he was hoping to make a decision in his recruitment in the very near future and that USC was in a prime spot. Now, the Trojans have reeled him in.
“I’ve been really close with USC and of course being from Cali’, that’s the place to be.”
As far as his recruitment went, USC was always the school he was looking at.
“There are other big name schools out there but USC is home.”
As elite a prospect as he is, there is a good bit of versatility to his game. But you can expect he will be putting points on the board at the next level.
Sayeri is “looking to do ‘FG’ and ‘KO’ and maybe backup for punt. Should be fun,” he says.
For anyone wondering why his recruitment may have taken a bit longer than others, there is combination of being a walk-on and waiting on some paperwork to clear.
“Been waiting on my transcripts to clear… it’s for sure been a process though, been waiting a while for them to clear. Just waiting on the transcripts to make the move if/when they clear,” Sayeri said a few weeks ago.
Chris Sailer Kicking Eval on Sayeri
“Ryon is a fantastic high school kicking prospect. He is a great looking athlete with a live leg. Ryon does a excellent job on field goal, a strength. He hits a clean ball off the ground, gets great lift and has 55+ yard range. His kickoffs are strong, D1 ready. Ryon drives the ball 65+ yards with 4.0+ hang time. Also a very talented punter. A competitor who thrives under pressure. Ryon has all the tools to be a phenomenal college player. I am excited to see what the future holds. Ryon is a fine young man with a great attitude and work ethic. One of the hardest workers out there. Excellent prospect.”
