The USC Trojans are on the board with offensive line recruiting in the transfer portal as head coach Lincoln Riley and position coach Zach Hanson have landed former Purdue lineman DJ Wingfield.
The 6-foot-4, 316-pound lineman is a Southern California native, having attended Redondo Union High School. He then spent two years at El Camino College and two years at New Mexico before starting at right guard for the Boilermakers this past season.
Wingfield started 12 games at right guard for Purdue this season, taking 674 offensive snaps. He also has extensive experience at right tackle, having started nine games there for New Mexico during the 2023 season.

USC has holes at both left guard and right tackle at this point, after starters Emmanuel Pregnon and Mason Murphy left via the transfer portal. The Trojans likely need to land multiple starters via the portal this offseason and Wingfield could have an opportunity to compete at both spots for a starting role.
The Trojans had done fairly well to address the interior of the defensive line to this point in the portal, landing former Kentucky tackle Keeshawn Silver and former Georgia tackle Jamaal Jarrett. But they had not seen the same success on the offensive side. The offensive line has become a huge need after departures by Pregnon and Murphy, as well as top backups Gino Quinones and Amos Talalele. There is still work to be done along the offensive line in the portal even with the addition of Wingfield. But this is a player who brings plenty of Big Ten experience with him to the USC offensive line room and went up against plenty of teams who appear on USC’s 2025 schedule.
