USC linebacker Raesjon Davis officially entered the NCAA transfer portal on Friday. The 6-foot, 220-pound linebacker will have one year of eligibility remaining after spending four seasons with the Trojans.

Davis was a huge commitment for the Trojans in the 2021 recruiting class as the nation’s No. 77 overall prospect and No. 8 linebacker. At the time, he was seen as part of a monumental finish to the USC recruiting class with local defensive prospects as he joined defensive end Korey Foreman and cornerback Ceyair Wright. Foreman and Wright both left the Trojans via the transfer portal previously and now none of the three will finish their college career in cardinal and gold.

“After much prayer and thought, I have decided to enter the transfer portal as a graduate transfer,” Davis posted to social media. “These past four years have been some of the best years of my life. I enjoyed the moments I made with everyone around me and I will cherish them forever. I would like to thank all of the staff, all of the faculty, and fans. This has truly been a life changing journey and I am thankful for the person it made me today.”

Davis was always an easy player to root for during his four years with the Trojans as someone who always worked hard but could never quite crack the starting lineup. Davis finishes his USC career with 31 tackles in 38 career games. This was to be his final year of eligibility but he decided after four games that he would sit out the rest of the season and use his redshirt year, then return next year looking for a starting spot under position coach Matt Entz. But Entz recently took the head coaching position at Fresno State, putting a wrinkle in Davis’ plan.

Davis is the 15th USC player to go into the transfer portal this offseason, joining notable names in quarterback Miller Moss, running back Quinten Joyner and wide receiver Duce Robinson.
