USC linebacker Tackett Curtis named Pac-12 Freshman Player of the Week
USC linebacker Tackett Curtis is the Pac-12 Freshman Player of the Week following his performance in the Trojans’ 42-28 win against the Arizona State Sun Devils.
Curtis collected seven tackles, including the first two sacks of his career. The seven total tackles doubled the number he’d posted over the first three games of the season. He’s now tied for fifth on the team with 14 tackles this season, and tied for third with those two sacks.
Curtis is the first USC player to win this award since quarterback Jaxson Dart did so following the Trojans’ Week 3 road win against Washington State in 2021.
The 6-foot-2, 225-pounder became the first true freshman to start at inside linebacker in a USC season opener since Cameron Smith did so in 2015. Curtis is the first USC defensive player to win this since the award was created, before the 2019 season.
