USC loses commitment from Dakoda Fields with flip to Oregon
USC has suffered their second decommitment of the summer as four-star safety Dakoda Fields has announced a commitment to flip to Oregon.
Fields ranks as the No. 95 player in the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also tabs in as the No. 13 cornerback and the No. 11 player in the state of California.
Fields originally committed to USC on June 5 and was previously a vocal recruiter for the Trojans.
Here is what Fields said about his change of decision.
“What really led me to picking Oregon was the genuine relationships I have with the staff,” Fields said. “Coach Tosh, Lanning, and Meat have been applying pressure since day 1; even more since I committed to USC. They made it very clear that I was top priority. Coach Lanning is a defensive minded head coach which plays a huge part in my decision. With the defensive staff that they have I know that with hard work I can achieve my goal of becoming a first round NFL draft pick.”
Personal Life (via On3)
“Dakoda Fields grew up loving both football and track, and he excelled at both during his time at Gardena (California) Serra High School. In 2021, he played a role in helping Serra capture the CIF Division IA state championship. Plus, he was part of the 4×100-meter relay team that won the Southern Section Division IV and Masters title before finishing second in the state to Fresno Central. Through his first three seasons of varsity competition, Fields has racked up 17 pass breakups, caused three fumbles and has two interceptions. When he is not playing football or on the track, Fields says he enjoys traveling and watching sports. His favorite food is cookie dough ice cream. His favorite musician is Rod Wave. Fields has a 3.0 GPA.”
