The USC Trojans made a big jump in this week’s AP poll following 27-20 win against the LSU Tigers in Las Vegas this past Sunday. After opening the season at No. 23, Lincoln Riley’s program now sits at No. 13 in this week’s rankings. The 10-spot jump was the biggest any team took from Week 1 to Week 2.

USC went into the game against then-No. 13 LSU as a 4.5-point underdog and overcame a 17-13 fourth-quarter deficit to win it on a 13-yard touchdown by running back Woody Marks with just eight seconds remaining. Linebacker Mason Cobb intercepted LSU’s final offensive play of the night, officially ending any chance for a Tigers’ comeback.

USC quarterback Miller Moss moved to 2-0 in his career, finishing with 378 yards and one touchdown on 27-of-36 passing. The Trojans’ defense got a big fourth-down stop in the redzone on the Tigers’ opening possession and then held LSU to just three points in four drives in the fourth quarter.

The Trojans still have three top-10 opponents left on their regular season schedule. Notre Dame sits at No. 5. Penn State is No. 8 and Michigan is No. 10.
