We always thought USC would be among the Top Schools at the end of the recruiting process for Elite All-American Safety Zion Branch, but the chances of signing him didn’t look good three weeks ago.

USC hiring Lincoln Riley as head coach and Alex Grinch as Defensive Coordinator changed that.

Branch was one of the first In-Home visits Riley and Grinch had two weeks ago. Raleek Brown was first and we know how that ended.

Although it appeared Ohio St. was the school to beat last month, USC remained a Top option in large part because of Donte William. But Branch told us he had a great relationship with Riley and Grinch as they heavily pursued Branch and his younger 2023 WR brother Zachariah Branch.

A day after his USC offical visit Branch announced the three schools he choose from.

interestingly enough, Oklahoma made his final cut. Former Bishop Gorman and Sooner RB DeMarco Murray is now the lead recruiter for OU and done a great job obviously.

WeAreSC spoke to Branch a few days before his weekend USC offical visit.

Branch shared his thoughts on what he gained from the USC offical visit he took with his brother and their parents.

“I gained a better understanding on what the new coaches plans are for the program,” said Branch.”We had some great conversations.”

One of the reasons top West Coast prospects weren’t choosing USC the past few years was the lack of confidence in leadership. We asked Branch if his confidence in the Trojans had been restored?

“I’m definitely confident in the program,” he said.”Coach Riley has a great vision for this thing and I believe in him.”
