USC offensive lineman Mason Murphy announced today that he is entering the NCAA transfer portal as a grad transfer.

Murphy is one of the last remaining players were were recruited by Clay Helton; Murphy was a part of the 2021 class He made the 2020 PrepStar All-American and 2021 MaxPreps All-State first team, Los Angeles Times All-Area first team and All-Trinity League first team as a senior 2-way tackle at JSerra Catholic High in San Juan Capistrano (Calif.).

The 6-foot-5, 315-pound lineman just completed his redshirt junior season and started all 12 games for the Trojans at right tackle. This season Murphy played a team-high 860 total snaps, including 797 offensive snaps—also a team-high. Since arriving at USC, he’s started 22 games at both guard spots and also at right tackle for the Trojans over the past 3 seasons. Murphy still has 1 more season of eligibility.

Murphy did not see action as a first-year freshman offensive lineman in 2021.  He had surgery on his fractured left foot and missed USC’s last 7 games (Utah, Notre Dame, Arizona, Arizona State, UCLA, BYU, California).

The Trojans’ offensive line in 2025 is losing starting LG Emmanuel Pregnon and starting center Jonah Monheim to the NFL draft, and with Murphy in the transfer portal, USC’s offensive line is returning with little to no veteran experience on the roster.

When USC faces Texas A&M in the upcoming Las Vegas Bowl Trojan fans will get a glimpse into the 2025 future with a new offensive line anticipated to start.
