Interior Offensive Lineman Eugene Brooks out of Sierra Canyon High in Chatsworth (CA) already had a USC scholarship offer from the previous staff, but Lincoln Riley and staff offered on Saturday (1/28). Josh Henson offered Brooks while he was on an unofficial visit with Coach Bruce Bible.

The talented Brooks previously had offers from Georgia, Florida St., Georgia Tech, Oregon, Oklahoma St. Cal, Washington St., Texas A&M, Texas, Michigan St., BYU, Arizona, UNLV and Utah St.,

Before last season, Brooks was one of four Las Vegas (NV) Desert Pines HS stars who transferred to Sierra Canyon. Wide receiver Lavon Brown (signed with Colorado State) and OL Elijah Payne (signed with Arizona), Brooks and OL Rodney Leaks (committed to Houston Christian) all joined the Trailblazers for the 2022 season.

After the USC visit Brooks told WeAreSC he definitely plans to return for another visit. This was his second time on an unofficial visit to see the Trojans, but first time with Riley and staff.

“It was a good vibe and I had a chance to meet the head coach,” said Brooks. “It felt good to be there. I also talked with my position coach Josh Henson. Coach Henson’s a good coach, he made me feel like home and I look forward to building a great relationship with him. He likes that I’m explosive off the ball and the way I play hard.”

The On3 Consensus ranks the 6-foot-5, 310-pounder as the nation’s No. 359 rising junior and its No. 23 interior offensive lineman. The site’s Recruiting Prediction Machine has it a close race so far, with Arizona, Oregon, Michigan State and Florida State leading the way. The Wildcats have a slight edge over the Ducks.
