USC offers 2025 No. 2 overall prospect Elijah Griffin
USC has extended an offer to one of the top overall prospects in the country, regardless of class. Savannah (Ga.) Savannah Christian Prep Five-Star Plus+ defensive lineman Elijah Griffin reported the new offer via Twitter.
Griffin is the No. 2 overall prospect in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
In a wildly dominant sophomore season, Griffin accumulated 82 total tackles, 30 tackles for loss, and 14.5 sacks. He also had 14 quarterback hurries and two fumble recoveries.
Griffin is an early standout on the recruiting trail
Griffin is currently the only Five-Star Plus+ recruit in the 2025 cycle. His play quickly caught the attention of On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power.
“When we were putting together the initial watch list, which I think was the first 2025 ranking of that sort in the industry, we watched his freshman film and it popped off immediately,” Power said on May 15. “You knew within a couple plays that ‘Okay, this is a top-10, top-five type of talent.’ He looked like a grown man as a freshman and just highly athletic, powerful. He is a guy who has the size of a defensive lineman, but has the athleticism and ability to rush the passer of an EDGE prospect.”

The 6-foot-4, 270-pounder holds 32 offers. According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, South Carolina currently has the early lead to land a commitment from Griffin at 38.6%. Georgia comes in as a close second at 27.2%.
