USC offers 2026 Mesquite Horn DB Markel Ford
USC has extended a new offer to class of 2026 Mesquite (Tex.) Horn safety Markel Ford, he announced on Twitter on Wednesday.
12 teams have offered the 6-foot-0.5, 190 pound sophomore. USC, Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, SMU, Baylor, Utah, UTSA, Oregon, Oregon State, Texas State, Grambling State, and Texas Tech have all offered.
Ford has had an electric start to his sophomore season, which has garnered him plenty of attention.
Through five games, Ford has racked up 24 total tackles, three tackles for loss, three interceptions, and one pass deflection.
Another key target at Mesquite Horn
USC is also recruiting elite four-star offensive lineman Lamont Rogers, one of the most coveted offensive tackles in the class of 2025.
Rogers is the No. 40 overall prospect and No. 8 offensive tackle in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 7 player in Texas.

He recently named USC in his top-12 group and is planning to take visit to Los Angeles for a game later this season.
Based on some Tweets from the two, it appears Kiel McDonald is involved in Ford’s recruitment, which comes as no surprise as Ford is the main contact for Rogers at this time
USC’s 2026 Class
It’s quite premature to score and rank classes in the 2026 cycle, but USC’s class is already among the best.
The Trojans hold two commitments in the class, the headliner being the nation’s No. 1 prospect, five-star quarterback Julian Lewis. The second commitment is Los Alamitos wide receiver Ja’Myron Baker. Baker is not yet ranked but projects as a blue-chip prospect.
There are only three programs with multiple commitments in the sophomore class and USC is the lone team with a nationally ranked prospect.
