Lincoln Riley and the USC Trojans have added yet another McKinney (Tex.) prospect to their recruiting board. Yesterday, USC offered 2027 McKinney defensive back prospect Taelyn Mayo following his performance at USC’s camp.

The class of 2027 just wrapped up their eight grade here, meaning he will start high school ball in about three months.

Even as such as young prospect, Mayo already holds five offers. His offers are USC, Texas, Oregon, Arkansas State, and San Diego State.

McKinney, a suburb just north of Dallas, is becoming a hot zone in recruiting. The roster is littered with talent, one of which is 2024 USC running back commit Bryan Jackson. They also are the home of 2025 linebacker target Riley Pettijohn, 2024 safety and Florida commit Xavier Filsaime. Two others, 2024 linebacker Jonathan Agumadu and 2025 cornerback Zadian Gentry have both made stops at USC to work out for the staff.

USC’s 2024 class is soaring

To date, the nine commitments in the 2024 class are Gardena (Calif.) Junipero Serra four-star cornerback Dakoda Fields, Los Angeles (Cal.) Sierra Canyon four-star Xavier Jordan, Atlanta (Ga.) Washington four-star EDGE Kameryn Fountain, Lake Oswego (Ore.) Lakeridge four-star tight end Joey Olsen, Clearwater (Fla.) four-star safety Jarvis Boatwright Jr., Modesto (Calif.) Central Catholic four-star offensive tackle Manasse Itete, McKinney (Tex.) three-star running back Bryan Jackson, Cheshire (CT) Academy three-star linebacker Elijah Newby, and Englewood (CO) Cherry Creek three-star offensive lineman Hayden Treter.

Also, as of right now, there are more than 20 prospects in the class of 2024 who are currently favored in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine to land with USC. A good portion of them visited USC this spring and/or are planning official visits in the summer.

The Trojans are currently set to host 35 official visitors in the month of June, primarily scheduled for two major visit weekends. The staff will hope for similar success as last cycle when they landed more than 10 of their June official visitors.

USC finished the 2023 class ranked inside the top-10 and Lincoln Riley and staff have started off on the right foot with an opportunity to repeat that feat in the 2024 class.
