USC OL coach Josh Henson leaving for Purdue
USC is down a second position coach this offseason as offensive line coach Josh Henson is set to take over as the offensive coordinator at Purdue under new head coach Barry Odom, according to FootballScoop and confirmed by sources to WeAreSC.
Odom and Henson worked together for a long stretch at Missouri from 2009-2015.
Henson served as the offensive line coach at USC from 2022-2024 and held the offensive coordinator title as well. Though, head coach Lincoln Riley was the playcaller and focal point of the USC offense.
The USC offensive line had its ups and downs over Henson’s three seasons. The 2022 group paved the way for a Heisman Trophy winner in quarterback Caleb Williams. The 2023 group had some issues as the Trojans tried to work three transfer portal additions into the starting lineup and things did not go seamlessly. There were some growing pains in 2024 as well as redshirt freshman Elijah Paige took over at left tackle and had a rough patch midway through the season but seemed to work through it and finish strong. By the end of the season, Henson had turned things around for the group after some struggles and the line was playing well.

The offensive line group saw a number of transfer portal departures this past week as veterans Mason Murphy and Gino Quinones entered, along with young players in Amos Talalele and Kalolo Ta’aga.
This will be a move to keep in mind as USC’s first Big Ten game in 2025 is a road trip to take on the Boilermakers.
