USC quarterback Miller Moss  was named to the 2024 Maxwell Award Watch List. Since 1937, the Maxwell Award has been presented annually to the nation’s best college football player.

Moss is one of 80 players overall and 12 Big Ten players named to the Watch List. He will look to become USC’s fifth Maxwell Award winner, joining running backs O.J. Simpson (1968), Charles White (1979), Marcus Allen (1981) and quarterback Caleb Williams (2022).

USC is tied for the fourth-most Maxwell Award winners. Notre Dame and Penn State both have seven. Alabama has five with recent back-to-back winners DeVonta Smith and Bryce Young. Texas also has four, with quarterback Colt McCoy winning it in 2009.

It’s more preseason attention from Moss, who made a big impression in his first start this past December. He set a USC bowl game record with six touchdown passes against Louisville in the Holiday Bowl.

In three years with the Trojans, Moss has completed 66 of 92 passes (71.7%) for 914 yards and nine touchdowns. He’s also rushed for 27 yards and two touchdowns.

Semifinalists for the Maxwell Award will be announced November 12, 2024. Three finalists for the Maxwell Award will be unveiled November 26, 2024. The winners of the 88th Maxwell Award will be announced as part of the ESPN Home Depot College Football Awards Show held on December 12, 2024. The formal presentations of the Maxwell Award will be made at the Maxwell Football Club Awards on Friday March 14, 2025 at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta, Georgia.
