Each week me and our impressive intern from USC’s Anneneberg School of Communications hop on Zoom to record our USC Recruiting Roundup. At that time we recap some of the interesting USC storylines of the week for our YouTube audience.
Our primary focus is on recruiting, but we’ll also touch on other topics each week.
In this USC Recruiting Roundup, WeAreSC’s Scott Schrader and Dylan Brashier discuss:
Jaylen Harvey’s commitment date coming soon
After watching Harvey’s impressive performance and Quince Orchard improving to 6-0, we had an opportunity to speak to him. We wanted to get THE LATEST on Harvey’s plans to announce his school choice. WeAreSC wasn’t sure if he was even ready. He attended the Penn St. “White Out” game two weeks ago (9/23).
James Franklin also flew into Gaithersburg (MD) to see Harvey the day before Harvey and his family were in Happy Valley. Franklin was sporting a No. 11 Penn St. jersey. Eleven is Harvey’s preferred number and what he’ll likely be wearing at USC should he choose the Trojans.
“I got a decision for where I’m going, I’m just waiting until my principal tells me what the date is, because I’m supposed to be doing it here at the (football) field. I’ll post the announcement date on Twitter and all that when I know it. It should happen in the next three to four weeks.”
USC vs Arizona visitors
Although USC started off the season with home games at the Coliseum versus San Jose St., Nevada and Stanford, circumstances, timing and lack of interest led to smaller groups of recruits at those games. There were also two official visits taken during that three week stretch and expect more later this season.
Four-Star Edge Jaylen Harvey and 4-Star CB commit Braylon Conley also traveled from out of state for a game. Harvey should be announcing his school choice at some point in the near future.
Despite no official visitors this week and the Trojans playing another unranked opponent, there’s still a solid list of notable USC targets attending USC vs Arizona on Saturday night. Unless noted, the prospects are class of 2024.

USC offers Minnesota “freak athlete” Koi Perich
Class of 2024 Safety Koi Perich may have committed to Minnesota on April 19, but schools didn’t stop pursuing.
The 6-foot-1, 185-pound Minnesota native was trending to Wisconsin prior to his commitment too to the Golden Gophers, so his commitment caught a few by surprise. Minnesota was actually running third behind Iowa at the time, per the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM).
Offer No. 11 came on Sunday (10/1) from USC.
While there isn’t a date set or even firm plans a visit will take place, Perich did say it’s possible he’ll take a USC official visit at some point during the season.
USC – Arizona Snap Count
The No. 10 USC Trojans (6-0, 4-0) came back from a 17-0 deficit to beat the Arizona Wildcats (3-3, 1-2) 43-41 in triple overtime. Here’s a look at the snap counts and some takeaways when it comes to playing time and performance. (All snap count numbers come from PFF).
