USC to get an official visit from Connecticut OLB Elijah Newby
A new name has been added to the June official visitors list for USC just one day before the month kicks off. Cheshire (CT) Academy three-star linebacker Elijah Newby announced this morning will take an official visit to USC this upcoming weekend.
USC extended an offer to Newby back in March but there has not been much buzz between the two sides since then. That is until now as Newby will be taking his first official visit.
Newby has two other official visits scheduled to this time, both also coming in June. He will take a visit to South Carolina on June 9 and will make his way to Penn State on June 16. He has yet to take any kind of visit to Los Angeles, so his official visit will be his first time to campus.
Newby ranks as the No. 450 player and No. 49 linebacker in the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also ranks as the No. 6 player in the state of Connecticut. .
On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine
The 6-foot-3, 205 pound linebacker holds 31 total offers. According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, Penn State currently holds the lead to land a commitment from Newby at 30.6%.
RPM was released to the public in December 2021. The On3 engineering group teamed up with Spiny.ai to create the industry’s first algorithm and machine learning-based product to predict where athletes will attend college.
It factors in machine learning, social sentiment, visits and historical trends. However, expert predictions are still a big piece of the RPM equation.

Andrews currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $21K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
More on the current class for USC
To date, the three commitments in the 2024 class are Los Angeles (Cal.) Sierra Canyon four-star Xavier Jordan, Lake Oswego (Ore.) Lakeridge four-star tight end Joey Olsen, and McKinney (Tex.) three-star running back Bryan Jackson.
Also, as of right now, there are more than 20 prospects in the class of 2024 who are currently favored in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine to land with USC. A good portion of them visited USC this spring and/or are planning official visits in the summer.
The Trojans are currently set to host 35 official visitors in the month of June, primarily scheduled for two major visit weekends. The staff will hope for similar success as last cycle when they landed more than 10 of their June official visitors.
USC finished the 2023 class ranked inside the top-10 and Lincoln Riley and staff have started off on the right foot with an opportunity to repeat that feat in the 2024 class.
