We are keeping up to date with the NCAA transfer portal this offseason and the USC Trojans are set to lose a number of players to other programs and will be on the hunt to bring talented players out of it to add to the roster.

Dec. 18 – A second get for USC

Former Iowa State and New Mexico running back Eli Sanders announces his commitment to USC. Sanders has rushed 305 times for 1,766 yards and 13 touchdowns in a four-year career. He finished the 2024 regular season on an absolute tear, with four-straight 100-yard games. They were the first four 100-yard rushing games of his career and he totaled 607 yards and five touchdowns in those four games.

Dec. 17 – A busy day for the Trojans

USC saw several impactful transfer portal decisions today as brothers Zachariah Branch and Zion Branch entered the portal. Both were prized recruits out of high school who appeared to have limitless potential at USC. Zachariah was among the leading receivers for the Trojans this season but Zion could quite carve out a consistent role in a veteran secondary. These are big losses on both sides of the ball for the 2025 roster.

Defensive tackle Elijah Hughes also made his way into the portal. Hughes punched above his weight in getting on the field as a true freshman in 2023. It took a bit to get into the rotation this year, but he was a consistent presence along the line over the second half of the season.

Dec. 14 – Fast in, fast out

Former UCF cornerback Chasen Johnson committed during his official visit to USC on Thursday and is out of the class two days later. Johnson officially signed with SMU today.

Dec. 14 – Moss finds a new home

Former USC quarterback Miller Moss announced that he’ll play his final year at Louisville after he took official visits to Louisville and Missouri this week.

Dec. 14 – USC lands another

USC grabs a commitment from former Virginia Tech and San Jose State cornerback DJ Harvey as the Trojans add an experienced veteran to that room after losing four seniors.

Dec. 14 – Greene to Kentucky

Former USC defensive end Sam Greene has committed to Kentucky.

Dec. 12 – Trojans get a commitment

USC lands a commitment from former UCF cornerback Chasen Johnson, who impressed for the Knights as a true freshman. The Trojans will need to add a couple of pieces to the secondary via the portal and this is a good start.

Dec. 12 – Freshman offensive tackle to the portal

True freshman offensive tackle Kalolo Ta’aga enters the NCAA transfer portal as the depth along the line for the Trojans takes another hit.

Dec. 10 – Young defender enters the portal

Redshirt freshman edge defender D.J. Peevy is the latest USC Trojan to enter the transfer portal. Peevy spent the 2023 season recovering from an injury and did not see action during the 2024 season either.

Dec. 10 – Robinson set to announce?

Reports are in that USC wide receiver Duce Robinson will enter the NCAA transfer portal.

Dec. 9 – Running back makes an announcement

Running back Quinten Joyner is off to the portal, he announced today. That means USC will lose its top two backs from this season and 78% of its rushing attempts with Joyner to the portal and Woody Marks out of eligibility.

Dec. 9 – Veteran lineman enters the portal

Offensive tackle Mason Murphy enters the transfer portal after serving as USC’s starting right tackle this season. He has another year of eligibility left but participated in senior day activities ahead of the Notre Dame game.

Dec. 9 – The portal officially opens

There will likely be a number of updates today as it is the first day the portal opens for all undergrad players to enter. To this point, only graduate transfers and players whose coaches have been fired or resigned have been able to enter.

The first name officially in is defensive tackle Bear Alexander, who announced earlier this year that he would redshirt the season and then was not with the team the rest of the season.

Dec. 8 – Tight end announces plans

Redshirt freshman tight end Kade Eldridge announces that he will enter the transfer portal when it opens. Eldridge played a significant number of snaps during the middle part of the season when starter Lake McRee went down with an injury. But his playing time decreased late in the year when McRee returned and true freshman Walker Lyons saw more significant time on the field.

Dec. 7 – Young edge defender plans to enter

The Trojans are now set to lose redshirt freshman defensive end Sam Greene as the second-year player announced Saturday that he will enter the portal. Greene finished the 2024 season with 15 tackles, including three for loss and a sack

Dec. 6 – Veteran USC receiver leaves

Wide receiver Kyron Hudson goes into the transfer portal with one year remaining after earning his degree from USC. The veteran wideout finished third on the team with 38 receptions for 462 yards and three touchdowns. He also took the most offensive snaps of any wide receiver this season by a fairly considerable margin.

Dec. 5 – Denis Lynch goes into the portal

Kicker Denis Lynch enters the portal and the Trojans will have to turn to a third different kicker in three years in 2025. Lynch held the starting job in both 2022 and 2023 but was replaced this season by Michael Lantz, who is not eligible to return in 2025.

Dec. 4 – Jake Jensen announces for the portal

Backup quarterback Jake Jensen announces on early signing day that he will go into the transfer portal. Jensen wasn’t going to be in position to battle for the starting spot next season, but his departure would leave the Trojans with just two quarterbacks in the room capable of playing time in Jayden Maiava and true freshman Husan Longstreet.

Dec. 3 – Gino Quinones enters

Veteran offensive line Gino Quinones goes into the portal as a grad transfer. This is another decision that has a big effect on next season’s offense line for the Trojans. Quinones has the ability to play left guard or center, two big holes for the Trojans with Jonah Monheim out of eligibility and Emmanuel Pregnon likely leaving for the NFL. Quinones did miss all of this season while recovering from an injury he suffered in Game 2 of the 2023 season. So he wasn’t a sure thing to be healthy for all of next season.

Dec. 2 – Amos Talalele announces

Offensive lineman Amos Talalele makes the surprising announcement that he will enter the portal when it opens on Dec. 9. Talalele started one game and played in several others on offense and special teams this season. This one comes as a surprise because it appeared Talalele would be in line to compete for a starting spot at either left guard or center for the Trojans in 2025.

Dec. 2 – Miller Moss enters portal

Quarterback Miller Moss becomes the first player for USC to enter the portal as he officially announces what was an expected decision. Moss threw for 2,555 yards and 18 touchdowns against nine interceptions on 64.4% completions in going 4-5 as a starter for the Trojans this season. Head coach Lincoln Riley made the move to backup quarterback Jayden Maiava during a late-season bye week as Maiava started the final three games for USC.
