The USC Trojans now hold the No. 1-ranked class in the 2026 On3 Class Rankings. The move comes as four-star defensive tackle Bott Mulitalo announced his decommitment from Oregon, dropping the Ducks and elevating the Trojans.

USC’s class score of 94.251 edges just past Oregon at 94.218 as On3 continues to use just the five top commitments in each class in its rankings to avoid giving extra credit to teams who stack up early commitments to move up the rankings.

USC does have one of the biggest 2026 classes in the country at this point as the Trojans hold 12 total commitments. Those break down into seven four-star prospects and four three-stars.

It’s a group that is led by four-star linebacker Xavier Griffin (Gainesville, Ga./Gainesville), who committed early to the Trojans and remains solid. He’s the nation’s No. 23 overall prospect in the On3 Industry Rankings. Griffin sits just three spots outside of five-star status there and is definitely going to be on five-star watch throughout this cycle.

Cornerback RJ Sermons (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif./Rancho Cucamonga) is the top-ranked local commit for USC. The son of former Trojan running back Rodney Sermons, the 6-foot, 180-pound RJ Sermons is the nation’s No. 26 overall prospect and No. 3 cornerback in the On3 Industry Rankings. He ranks higher than that in the On300 Rankings, where he is the No. 13 overall prospect and nation’s No. 1 cornerback.

Fellow local cornerback Brandon Lockhart (Los Angeles/Loyola) is the No. 52 overall prospect and No. 6 cornerback.

A big part of USC’s recent rise to the top-ranked class came from flipping four-star quarterback Jonas Williams (Frankford Heights, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) from his previous commitment to Oregon. The Trojans have a couple of other Midwest prospects committed in four-star running back Shahn Alston (Painesville, Ohio/Harvey) and four-star defensive lineman Braeden Jones (Chicago/Mt. Carmel).

The rest of the class features No. 85 overall prospect and No. 12 defensive end Simote Katoanga (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif./Santa Margarita), wide receiver Ja’Myron Baker (Los Alamitos, Calif./Sierra Canyon), athletes Joshua Holland (Bellflower, Calif./St. John Bosco) and Madden Riordan (Pasadena, Calif./Sierra Canyon) and edge rusher Andrew Williams (Los Angeles/John C. Fremont). The Trojans also landed a verbal commitment from offensive lineman John Fifita (Mountain View, Calif./St. Francis) on Monday.
