Game Notes

To help you get prepared for kickoff, here are some notes about the matchup:

-The Trojans and Wildcats have faced off 44 times in their history. USC has dominated the series historically, going 36-8 in those matchups.

-USC is currently on a nine-game win streak vs. Arizona. The Trojans have not lost to the Wildcats since October 27, 2012—exactly ten years ago today. Despite the loss, wide receiver Marquise Lee broke the school record that afternoon with an incredible 345 receiving yards. Lee would go on to win the Biletnikoff Award that season.

-In last season’s meeting, USC defeated Arizona by a final score of 41-34. It was one of just two wins at the Coliseum for USC last season, and the Wildcats’ 20th consecutive defeat stretching across three seasons. However, the victory was overshadowed by star wide receiver Drake London suffering a season-ending ankle injury during the contest.

-In USC’s last trip to Tuscon, the Trojans eked out a 34-30 win over an Arizona team that finished the season winless. Vavae Malepeai scored the game-winning touchdown on an eight-yard run with 25 seconds left to help the Trojans survive the scare.

-No USC head coach (including three interim coaches) has lost his first matchup vs. the Wildcats since Paul Hackett in 1999. Lincoln Riley will look to continue this trend on Saturday.
