Game Notes

To help you get prepared for kickoff, here are some notes about the matchup:

-USC leads the all-time series vs. Arizona State 24-14. The Trojans won eleven straight games in the series from 2000-2010. However, USC is just 6-5 in their past eleven meetings with the Sun Devils.

-Arizona State won last year’s matchup 31-16, as the reeling Trojans played out a lost season under interim head coach Donte Williams. This season, however, the roles are reversed, as it is the Sun Devils who are lead by an interim head coach in Shaun Aguano.

-Arizona State’s most recent visit to the Coliseum was a unique one, to say the least. Playing in front of an empty stadium due to the COVID 19 Pandemic, the game kicked off at 9:00 AM local time. The Trojans would win 28-27 behind an improbable comeback, punctuated by an incredible touchdown pass from Kedon Slovis to Drake London in the game’s final minute.

-USC linebacker Eric Gentry played for the Sun Devils last season. Gentry was one of numerous key players on Arizona State’s roster to enter the Transfer Portal this past offseason, as the program navigated an NCAA investigation of illegally hosting recruits on campus during the dead period caused by the pandemic.
