Game Notes
To help you get prepared for kickoff, here are some notes about the matchup:
-This will be the 92nd all-time meeting between USC and UCLA. The Trojans currently lead the series 52-33-6.
-Last season, UCLA defeated USC at the Coliseum by a final score of 62-33. The 62 points were tied for the most that USC had ever given up in 130 years of playing football. UCLA quarterback Dorian Thompson Robinson had a career day, accounting for nearly 400 yards of total offense and six total touchdowns.
-USC’s last visit to the Rose Bowl came during the COVID-shortened 2020 season. USC won that game in a 43-38 thriller, with quarterback Kedon Slovis throwing the game-winning eight-yard touchdown pass to Amon-Ra St. Brown with 16 seconds left to play. Slovis threw for 347 yards, five touchdowns, and two interceptions on the day.

-This will mark the first meeting between the Trojans and the Bruins with both teams ranked since 2014. The Bruins, won that matchup 38-20, their third consecutive win over USC. As of right now, the three-year stretch from 2012 through 2014 is UCLA’s only winning streak vs. the Trojans this century. However, if the Bruins win tomorrow, they will have another streak on their hands.
-In addition, this will be the first time that both teams will enter the matchup with two or fewer losses since 2005. USC dominated that game, defeating the Bruins 66-19. In addition to the Trojans’ 34th consecutive victory overall, it marked their seventh straight win vs UCLA.
-Several players and coaches on UCLA’s roster have USC ties. Offensive lineman Liam Douglass played for the Trojans from 2018-2021, while defensive lineman Jay Toia spent the Spring of 2021 at USC before transferring across town. In addition, UCLA defensive coordinator Clancy Pendergast served two stints in the same role at USC.
-The teams will be playing for the Victory Bell, which is given annually to the winner of the USC vs. UCLA Football matchup. After losing the bell to their crosstown rivals last year, USC will be looking to get it back in 2022.
