Game Notes
To help you get prepared for kickoff, here are some notes about the matchup:
-USC is 12-7 vs. Utah. Since the Utes joined the Pac 12 in 2011, the Trojans are 7-4 against the Utes.
-The Trojans have a 2-3 all-time record at Rice-Eccles Stadium. Although USC won their last matchup there in 2020, that game took place in an empty stadium due to the Covid 19 Pandemic. The Trojans have not won in front of fans at Rice-Eccles since 2012. That night, Biletnikoff Award-winner Marquise Lee caught 12 passes for 192 yards—including an 83-yard touchdown reception—to help lead USC to a 38-28 victory.

-Last season, the Utes notched their first ever victory at the Coliseum. Although USC quarterback Kedon Slovis through for over 400 yards and Drake London recorded an incredible 16 receptions—including an epic hurdle for a touchdown—the Trojan defense had no answer for Utah quarterback Cameron Rising and company in a 42-26 defeat.
-USC running backs coach Kiel McDonald served in the same role at Utah from 2017-2021. During that time, McDonald coached several of the Pac 12’s top running backs, including 2019 Pac 12 Offensive Player of the Year Zack Moss.
