The USC wide receiver room continued its offseason shakeup on Tuesday as reserve Charles Ross entered the NCAA transfer portal as a graduate transfer.

The 6-foot-1, 165-pound Ross came to USC from San Jose State this past offseason but couldn’t push his way into the regular rotation at wide receiver with the Trojans. Ross played in just three games and caught one pass for 11 yards against Utah State.

USC’s wide receiver room has seen four players enter the NCAA transfer portal now. Zachariah Branch, Duce Robinson and Kyron Hudson were all featured players this season for the Trojans who are headed elsewhere now. Hudson has committed to Penn State and Robinson is set for Florida State. And veteran Kyle Ford is out of eligibility.

It’ll be interesting to see what Ross’ plan is. He doesn’t appear to have any eligibility left after using a redshirt year in 2019 and then playing in the 2021, 2022, 2023 and now 2024 seasons. But he played in just three games this year so perhaps there exists the ability to petition for another year of eligibility for Ross.

The Trojans have six receivers remaining, including Makai Lemon, Ja’Kobi Lane, Jay Fair, Jaden Richardson, Josiah Zamora and Xavier Jordan. USC is set to add a trio of four-star receivers to the roster in incoming freshmen Romero Ison, Corey Simms and Tanook Hines.

Ross is the 20th USC player to enter the NCAA transfer portal this offseason. The Trojans’ previous entries are:

QB Miller Moss – Louisville
QB Jake Jensen – Montana
RB Quinten Joyner – Texas Tech
WR Duce Robinson – Florida State
WR Kyron Hudson – Penn State
WR Zachariah Branch
TE Kade Eldridge – Washington
OL Gino Quinones – Fresno State
OL Amos Talalele – Kansas State
OL Mason Murphy – Auburn
OL Kalolo Ta’aga – Utah
DL Bear Alexander – Oregon
DL Sam Greene – Kentucky
DL DJ Peevy
DL Elijah Hughes
LB Raesjon Davis – Oregon State
S Zion Branch
K Denis Lynch
