USC's Bronny James selected by Los Angeles Lakers in 2024 NBA Draft
USC guard Bronny James is officially off to the NBA after being selected in the second round, No. 55 overall, by the Los Angeles Lakers.
With the selection, LeBron James and Bronny James are set to become the first-ever father-son duo to play in the NBA at the same time, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.
The Lakers were always considered the likely landing spot for James and reports surfaced before the draft’s second round that agent Rich Paul was telling other teams that James would play in Australia if drafted by another franchise.

James played one season at USC and the start of his career was delayed after he suffered a cardiac arrest during a summer workout before the season. He finished his freshman year averaging 19.6 minutes, 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists and .8 steals per game on 36.6% shooting from the floor, including 26.7% from three-point range.
He logged six starts and appeared in 25 games for the Trojans.
James joins first-round pick Isaiah Collier as NBA picks for the Trojans in this draft. It’s the first time since 2018 USC has had two players selected in the same year. That season, De’Anthony Menton went to the Rockets and Chimezie Metu went to the Bucks, both as second-round selections.
