USC Trojans‘ Lindsay Gottlieb was one of 15 head coaches named to the 2025 Werner Lader Naismith Women’s College Coach of the Year Watch List.

In her fourth season at USC, Gottlieb has positioned the Trojans among the elite programs in the country. USC sits at No. 4 in the nation with a 23-2 overall record and 13-1 in the Big Ten. She is 85-34 in her three-plus seasons and guided USC to back-to-back years with at least 23 regular season wins. It’s the first time this USC program has done that since winning back-to-back NCAA championships in 1983 and 1984.

Gottlieb was a finalist for the 2024 Werner Lader Naismith Women’s College Coach of the Year award, which went to Dawn Staley of South Carolina.

Gottlieb helped guide the Trojans to the Elite 8 last season and this year’s group is looking to go another few steps farther. USC made a statement last week when it knocked off undefeated and No. 1 UCLA, 71-60 at Galen Center. Tonight, the Trojans take on No. 22 Michigan State and then will host Illinois on Sunday.

USC wraps up its regular season on March 1 at UCLA in another game that will potentially have national implications when it comes to NCAA Tournament seedings. The Bruins have held firm on the No. 1 seeding line despite the loss while USC’s road loss to Iowa earlier this month has the Trojans as a No. 2 seed for the time being.
