After Parker Lewis decided to transfer, Lincoln Riley found himself without the top two USC kickers from a year ago. At the time Lewis decided to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal, Alex Stadthaus had decided not to return for a fifth season. In case anyone’s unaware, it costs an exorbitant amount of resources to educate a kid without a scholarship at USC.

But the day after Lewis entered the Portal, Stadthaus announced he was returning to USC for the 2022 season. Stadthaus returning as a scholarship athlete solved part of problem the Trojans faced at Kicker, so the search began to add more depth.

That search ended on Sunday with the commitment of former Oaks Christian and Ventura College freshman Kicker/Punter Garth White. He’ll arrive in June as a preferred walk-on.

“Few reasons I like USC is because the school is unbeatable,” said White.”The location is perfect. I really enjoyed talking with the coaching staff and they showed me so much love. I am excited to get to work.

“Don’t know exactly what their expectations are for me, but I can kick and punt which is not super common. So I will work on both and when I get there in June. And they will see what I do best and go from there.”

White is rated a 5-Star Kicker by renowned specialist coach/trainer and former UCLA Kicker Chris Sailer.

“Garth is a very talented junior college kicking and punting prospect. He’s a great looking athlete with a powerful leg and hits a D1 level ball off the ground. His ball gets up quick and he has 55 yard range. His kickoffs are strong, college ready. Garth is also a big time punting prospect. He hits a D1 Level ball.

“A competitor that does well under pressure. I really like his all around upside and look forward to seeing what the future holds for Garth. Garth is always a great pleasure to work with. He is going to make a fine addition to a 4-year college program. Fantastic combo prospect.”
