WeAreSC On3 12/24/22: Taleni to Return, McQueen's New Job, and DJU to OSU
WeAreSC On3 is a daily three-point briefing recapping news and notes surrounding USC Athletics. Today, we take a look at Tyrone Taleni revealing that he will return to USC for the 2023 season, USC graduate assistant Connor McQueen getting a new job, and former Clemson quarterback DJ Uiagalelei reportedly committing to Oregon State.
Taleni to Return
Earlier this week, USC defensive lineman Tyrone Taleni confirmed that he will use his extra year of eligibility that the NCAA granted all athletes due to the COVID 19 pandemic and return to the Trojans for the 2023 season.
Taleni has been a key player on USC’s defensive line this year. Through the team’s first 13 games, he has recorded 25 tackles, five sacks, and a forced fumble. Prior to his arrival at USC, Taleni spent two seasons at junior college and two seasons with Kansas State.
McQueen’s New Job
Lincoln Riley will need to fill at least one open on his staff position for next season. According to Bruce Feldman of The Athletic, USC graduate assistant Connor McQueen will become the new offensive coordinator at Incarnate Word, a strong FCS program with a track record of producing explosive offenses.

A former quarterback at Texas A&M, McQueen previously coached at both UCLA and Oklahoma. He joined Riley’s inaugural USC staff this past January as a graduate assistant working with the quarterbacks.
DJU to OSU
Oregon State reportedly has a new quarterback—and a big name one, too. According to Pete Thamel of ESPN, former Clemson signal caller DJ Uiagalelei plans to transfer to the Beavers. With nearly all of the Pac 12’s top QBs from 2022 set to return as well, the Conference of Champions should be loaded at the position in 2023.
USC is not scheduled to play Oregon State during the regular season next year. With both teams coming off of seasons of ten or more wins, however, there is a chance that they could meet in Vegas for the Pac 12 Championship Game come December.
