WeAreSC On3 is a daily three-point briefing recapping news and notes surrounding USC Athletics. Today, we take a look at USC flipping former Stanford commit Walker Lyons, an update on the Trojans’ 2023 schedule, and four-star cornerback Rodrick Pleasant signing with Oregon.

Lyons Flips

USC picked up a big commitment on National Signing Day yesterday from four-star tight end Walker Lyons.

The number 119 overall player in the class of 2023 (according to On3 Consensus), Lyons flipped his commitment from Stanford to the Trojans, with whom he subsequently signed. However, Lyons plans to take a two-year LDS mission, so he will likely not enroll at USC until 2025.

Schedule Update

On Tuesday evening, USC announced that its 2023 matchup against Arizona will take place on Saturday, October 7. Previously, there was a possibility that the game could be played on Friday, October 6, instead.

This will mark the second time in the past three years that USC will play all twelve of its regular season games on a Saturday. After being bombarded with Thursday and Friday night games during the Larry Scott era, the Trojans will not have to deal with such during their final season in the Pac 12.
