WeAreSC On3 3/24/23: Portal Entrants, Staff Addition, and Morgan to Return

WeAreSC On3 is a daily three-point briefing recapping news and notes surrounding USC Athletics. Today, we take a look at several entrants into the NCAA Transfer Portal, USC officially announcing its latest staff addition, and Joshua Morgan returning for his final year of eligibility.
Portal Entrants
Earlier this week, both USC Football and Basketball lost players to the NCAA Transfer Portal. On the football side, it was tight end Malcolm Epps.
After starting his college career at Texas, Epps spent the past two seasons with the Trojans. He will have one year of eligibility remaining at his new school.

USC Basketball, meanwhile, lost sophomore Reese-Dixon Waters and Malik Thomas to the portal. Dixon-Waters has played a key role for the Trojans over the past two seasons, and was recently named the Pac-12 Sixth Player of the Year. Thomas, on the other hand, has mostly served in a reserve role during his time at USC.

Staff Addition
Two weeks ago, On3 reported that USC was adding Greg Brown to its staff as a defensive analyst. Earlier this week, USC made the move official.
Brown most recently served as the defensive coordinator at Charlotte. He previously worked in the same role at Colorado, and has also coached defensive backs for numerous other college and NFL teams.
Morgan to Return
On Wednesday afternoon, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports confirmed that Joshua Morgan will return to USC for his final season of eligibility. The decision was expected from Morgan, who did not participate in USC’s Senior Day ceremonies.
USC now awaits a decision from Boogie Ellis, who also has one more year of eligibility remaining. The expectation is that Ellis will move on and pursue a professional career, but he has not made any official announcement yet.
