WeAreSC On3 is a daily three-point briefing recapping news and notes surrounding USC Athletics. Today, we take at Kliff Kingsbury returning to USC as an analyst, two Trojans hearing their names called in the 2023 WNBA Draft, and the baseball team entering the top 25 following a weekend sweep of San Diego State.

Kingsbury Comes Home

Yesterday evening, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network dropped a bombshell report that Kliff Kinsbury will return to USC as a Senior Offensive Analyst. According to Peliserro, Kingsbury is expected to work with USC’s quarterbacks.

Kingsbury infamously served as USC’s offensive coordinator for just over a month during the 2019 offseason before abruptly leaving to take the head coaching job with the NFL’s Arizona Cardinals. He was recently fired by Arizona after a disappointing four years with the team.

During his time with the Cardinals, Kingsbury coached former Lincoln Riley protege Kyler Murray. At his previous college stops (Houston, Texas A&M, and Texas Tech), he also worked with record-setting quarterbacks Case Keenum, Johnny Manziel, Baker Mayfield, and Patrick Mahomes.

Trojans in the WNBA Draft

Last night marked the 2023 WNBA Draft. Two Trojans heard their names called back-to-back, with Kadi Sissoko going 29th overall to the Phoenix Mercury, followed by Okako Adika being selected 30th overall by the New York Liberty.

Sissoko and Adika are the first two Trojans to be drafted into the WNBA since 2016. It is also the first time since 2012 that multiple USC players have been selected in the same draft

Baseball Enters Polls

Following their weekend sweep of San Diego State, USC Baseball is officially a top 25 team.

Let’s take a look at where the Trojans came in in various polls:

-Baseball America (who had USC at No. 25 last week): No. 21

-D1 Baseball: No. 23

-Collegiate Baseball: No. 24

-USA Today: No. 23

This marks the first time that USC has been a consensus ranked team since 2016.
