WeAreSC On3 4/12/23: Ford Entering Portal, Spring Game Format, and Field Renaming Ceremony
WeAreSC On3 is a daily three-point briefing recapping news and notes surrounding USC Athletics. Today, we take at Courtland Ford planning to enter the Transfer Portal, Lincoln Riley revealing the format for Saturday’s Spring Game, and USC holding a ceremony officially renaming the track on campus as Allyson Felix Field.
Ford Entering Portal
Last night, WeAreSC reported that USC offensive lineman Courtland Ford plans to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal.
The redshirt junior started 12 games for the Trojans over the past three seasons. With USC bringing in several offensive line transfers and Ford struggling with an injury throughout the spring, however, he was trending towards playing a more limited role in 2023.
Spring Game Format
During his weekly appearance on the “Trojans Live” show, USC head coach Lincoln Riley revealed the format for this Saturday’s Spring Game.
Like last year, the game will pit the offense against the defense. The defense will open the game with a 21-0 lead, and will earn points for each turnover, fourth down stop, missed field goal, safety, and defensive touchdown. The offense will earn points for each touchdown and field goal that it scores.
