WeAreSC On3 4/6/23: Prospect Grades, Day on Big Ten Move, and National Student-Athlete Day

WeAreSC On3 is a daily three-point briefing recapping news and notes surrounding USC Athletics. Today, we take at ESPN’s grades for top the NFL Draft prospects, Ohio State head coach Ryan Day’s comments on USC and UCLA joining the Big Ten in 2024, and National Student-Athlete Day.
Prospect Grades
ESPN recently updated its prospect grades for the 2023 NFL Draft. Draft analyst Matt Miller gave 20 prospects a first round grade for the upcoming draft.
One of the prospects receiving a first round grade was USC wide receiver Jordan Addison. Miller ranked Addison as the number 19 overall player in the draft, and the number two wide receiver—behind only Jaxon Smith-Njigba of Ohio State.

Here is what Miller had to say about Addison:
“Addison transferred from Pitt to USC after winning the 2021 Biletnikoff Award for best wide receiver in college football. And he quietly put together an outstanding year playing on Pacific Standard Time, with 59 catches, 875 yards, and eight touchdowns. Addison isn’t a big receiver (5-foot-11, 173 pounds), but he plays with great power after the catch and has the footwork to create separation in his route tree.”
Day on Big Ten Move
On a recent episode of the Bussin’ with the Boys Podcast with NFL players Will Compton and Taylor Lewan, Ohio State head coach Ryan Day spoke on the upcoming additions of USC and UCLA to the Big Ten.

“I think adding USC and UCLA really is a game-changer in so many different ways,” Day said. “It’s so different in so many ways. It’s not natural, it’s not a natural rivalry. It’s going to be very untraditional. But those are two very good teams.”
““As you think about adding those teams and then in ’24, going away from the divisions. Think about it. We could play the rivalry game [vs. Michigan], we could play Penn State, you could play USC — all in one season. That’s quite a schedule. It’s just very different now.”
The Trojans and Bruins are set to join the conference in 2024.
