WeAreSC On3 is a daily three-point briefing recapping news and notes surrounding USC Athletics. Today, we take a look at USC’s new Amazon NIL partnership, Kedon Slovis being named Pitt’s starting quarterback, and two former Trojans reuniting at an NFL preseason game.

Amazon NIL Partnership

Yesterday, On3 reported that USC is testing out a new NIL partnership with Amazon. The partnership will allow USC to sell officially licensed apparel to fans. In addition players will to be able to profit off of these sales.

USC is reportedly serving as a test subject for Amazon’s NIL program, which they hope can become a competitor to Fanatics. If things go smoothly, Amazon plans to roll out the full program this fall.

Slovis Named Starter

On Wednesday, former USC quarterback Kedon Slovis was officially named Pitt’s starter.

Slovis started at USC for the past three seasons. He set numerous USC and Pac 12 records as a true freshman in 2019, and made first team All-Pac 12 in 2020. Much like the rest of the Trojans, however, Slovis struggled a bit last season. He missed the final three games of the year with an injury, and entered the NCAA Transfer Portal shortly after the season ended.

Former USC quarterback Kedon Slovis will start for Pitt this season.

Slovis enrolled at Pitt last spring, and has been the favorite to replace Heisman Trophy finalist Kenny Pickett for the Panthers ever since. With that news now official, Slovis can focus all of his attention on a week one matchup with fellow former Trojan QB JT Daniels and West Virginia.

Former Trojans Reunite

Week two of the NFL preseason is now in the books. This week, we got another reunion between two former USC teammates.

Following the game between the Atlanta Falcons and the New York Jets on Monday night, former Trojans Drake London and Alijah Vera-Tucker made sure to get a picture together.

London and Vera-Tucker were teammates at USC in 2019 and 2020. They would both go on to become first round NFL Draft picks—Vera-Tucker by the Jets a year ago, and London by the Falcons this past April.
