WeAreSC On3 9/8/22: Conference Realignment Update, Pac 12 Power Rankings, and Stanford Searches for Luck
WeAreSC On3 is a daily three-point briefing recapping news and notes surrounding USC Athletics. Today, we take a look at an update on conference realignment, On3’s latest Pac 12 power rankings, and Stanford searching for some Luck in Saturday’s matchup against USC.
Conference Realignment Update
With the college football season now underway, we have gotten a brief break from the conference realignment discussion that dominated the news cycle over the summer. Yesterday, however, realignment news moved right back to the forefront.
In an interview on potential conference expansion, new Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark said that, “obviously going out west is where I would like to go.”
It does not take a genius to imply from this that Yormark would like to poach schools from the Pac 12. But while the future of USC’s current conference is very much up in the air, the Trojans can rest easy knowing that they are on their way to the Big Ten in 2024.
Pac 12 Power Rankings
Yesterday, On3 released its latest Pac 12 power rankings. Following their blowout win over Rice on Saturday, USC moved into the top spot.
Entering the season, the Trojans were number two, behind defending conference champion Utah. With the Utes falling to Florida on Saturday, however, USC was able to jump them for number one on the list.

Stanford Searches for Luck
Ahead of their matchup with heavily favored USC on Saturday, Stanford is trying to channel all of the Luck that they can get. Quite literally, that is.
Stanford recently announced that they will honor former star quarterback Andrew Luck at Saturday’s game. Earlier this year, Luck was voted into the College Football Hall of Fame’s Class of 2022.
Luck played at Stanford from 2008-2011, setting numerous school records and leading the Cardinal to back-to-back BCS Bowls. He would go on to be the number one overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft.
