WeAreSC On3: Colorado highlights, a Gentry Williams prediction and more Max Gibbs?
A daily three-point briefing, recapping the news and notes of USC athletics. Today it’s USC-CU highlights, a prediction on a top USC target, and the thought of more Max Gibbs.
Colorado highlights
It’s always fun to relive USC wins through the sights and sounds of the Trojans’ video crew.
Gentry Williams releases top 4
Elite cornerback Gentry Williams (Tulsa, Okla./Booker T. Washington) has given USC a long look during this recruiting process. The 6-foot, 170-pound, high four-star prospect announced Tuesday morning that he’ll be making his commitment later this month.
Florida, Missouri, Oklahoma and USC remain in the picture for Williams, who has a close relationship with USC interim coach Donte Williams. On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons offered his prediction as to where Williams will land.
More Max Gibbs?
Max Gibbs probably isn’t ready to take on a significant load as a defensive lineman for the Trojans. But after just one play, it’s clear that he can provide something for USC up front (and definitely more than he was contributing as a back up, back up offensive guard).

“We lack depth right now on the defensive line,” Williams said on the Trojans Live radio show Monday night. “We wanted to make sure we put some mass in there on the D-line and nobody has more mass than Max…Nobody can move him.”
Williams said during his Sunday night media call that he hops Gibbs’ role continues to grow and he’ll continue to improve, whether that’s on offense or defense.
