Where USC's transfer portal departures are headed
Roughly two weeks into the winter transfer portal window, we’re taking a look at where all the former USC Trojans have landed in their search for a new program.
Quarterback Miller Moss – Louisville
Moss was replaced as USC’s starting quarterback by Jayden Maiava going into Game 9 this year and then quickly entered the transfer portal following the conclusion of the regular season. Both starter Tyler Shough and backup Harrison Baily are out of eligibility. Backups Pierce Clarkson and Brady Allen are in the transfer portal. Moss took visits to Missouri and Louisville before deciding on the Cardinals and will take over the starting quarterback job without resistance.
Quarterback Jake Jensen – Montana
After three years as USC’s No. 3 quarterback, Jensen will look for playing time at Montana.
Running back Quinten Joyner – Texas Tech
Joyner looked to have a fairly clear path to taking over as the starting running back for the Trojans next season. Instead, he’ll head home to Texas as the Red Raiders load up in the transfer portal.
Wide receiver Kyron Hudson – Penn State
After catching 38 passes for 462 yards and three touchdowns this year, Hudson will head to Big Ten rival Penn State for his final year of eligibility. Penn State tight end Tyler Warren dominated the passing game this season, hauling in more than twice as many receptions as any other receiver. But he’ll be off to the NFL draft following this season.
Tight end Kade Eldridge – Washington
USC’s No. 2 tight end to open the season is headed back home to the Huskies. His playing time decreased throughout the season as true freshman Walker Lyons took on a bigger role, but Eldridge was a solid blocker for the Trojans’ running game.
Offensive lineman Mason Murphy – Auburn
Murphy will get a fresh start at Auburn after an up-and-down year at right tackle for USC. It’ll be fascinating to see where Murphy gets his shot with the Tigers and how he performs there.
Offensive lineman Amos Talalele – Kansas State
Talalele was going to be an option at guard or center for the Trojans in 2024. His departure is softened a bit by the return of Emmanuel Pregnon at left guard, but it hurts the depth at multliple spots.

Offensive lineman Kalolo Ta’aga – Utah
Ta’aga looked like a promising developmental piece for the Trojans’ offensive line. Instead, he’ll be that for the Utes moving forward.
Defensive tackle Bear Alexander – Oregon
Alexander heads to his third college in four years and will see if he can make it work with the Ducks.
Defensive end Sam Greene – Kentucky
Greene saw more and more time at defensive end for the Trojans as the season went along and even logged some starts. But it’s clear USC’s defensive staff is prioritizing size up front and the undersized Greene is headed to Kentucky.
Linebacker Raesjon Davis – Oregon State
Davis should be in line for more regular playing time on the defensive side with the Beavers as Oregon State lost a few key starting linebackers. Davis held onto his final year of eligibility when he elected to sit out the final eight games of the season.
