Wide receiver Jaren Hamilton Includes USC Among Top Schools
Three-star wide receiver Jaren Hamilton announced his top seven schools this weekend. USC made the cut, along with Alabama, Michigan, Michigan State, Mississippi State, Tennessee and West Virginia.
The 6-foot-1, 178-pound Hamilton has been in communication with the USC coaches for some time. But an offer in late June really put the Trojans in the mix.
USC’s wide receiver haul in this 2023 recruiting cycle is likely to be one of the best in the country regardless of whether the Trojans add another commitment. Five-star Zachariah Branch is a long-time commitment and recently announced that he’s locked in with the Trojans. Branch is the nation’s No. 1 wide receiver and a top-10 overall prospect in the 2023 On3 Consensus. He’s joined by four-star prospect Makai Lemon, a top-10 wide receiver and the No. 5 prospect in the state of California.
But USC coaches have taken runs at other wide receivers as they explore bringing in a third to this class. Recently, five-star prospect Brandon Inniss committed to Ohio State over USC. But Lincoln Riley and staff are looking to Florida for another target in Hamilton.
An interesting aspect of this group of schools is that none are in Florida. Hamilton said previously that staying in the state wasn’t a requirement in the slightest, although Florida was the first school to offer him.

Hamilton’s Recruiting Process
Hamilton received offers from Michigan and Michigan State this past spring. And then his recruitment took another turn in late June. He camped at Alabama and earned an offer from head coach Nick Saban. USC followed with an offer shortly thereafter. Obviously all four of those made an impression considering all four are among his top seven schools at this time.
Hamilton has never been west of Texas and was eyeing a potential unofficial visit to USC in late July. It will say a lot about his interest in USC if he follows through on that and is on campus for USC’s big recruit event at the end of the month.
As it stands now, Alabama, Tennessee and Michigan have the three best odds in the RPM for Hamilton among the programs that made his top group.
Last fall, Hamilton recorded 30 receptions for 671 yards and 10 touchdowns. He led his team in all three categories, posting 22.4 yards per catch. On the track, he’s run a sub-11 seconds in the 100m, and sub 22 seconds in the 200m.
