Woody Marks Injury Update: USC back out of the game against Notre Dame
The USC Trojans offense will be up against it as they battle the Notre Dame defense over the final 30 minutes of a tie game at halftime. And it looks like the Trojans will have to do it without standout running back Woody Marks.
Marks carried the ball six times for 33 yards against the Irish in the first quarter. But on the final carry — a nine-yard gain with 2:23 remaining in the first quarter — Marks appeared to hit his head hard on the ground while being tackled. He remained down for several minutes before eventually rising and walking off the field under his own power. He was evaluated by USC medical personnel and according to the CBS broadcast, will not return to the game.
CBS reported Marks motioned to his family in the stands that he was done for the day and he did not have a helmet with him on the sideline for the rest of the half. He went into the locker room a few moments before the second quarter ended.
In his place, USC turned to second-year back Quinten Joyner, who responded with three carries for 21 yards and an impressive 13-yard catch with one hand on a swing pass.

USC also put true freshman running back Bryan Jackson on the field for a play and he could continue to see time if the Trojans need to go past Joyner.
USC will open the second half against No. 5 Notre Dame tied 14-14. The Trojans fell behind 7-0 and 14-7 but the offense was able to respond both times. The Trojans forced a key fumble early in the game that turned into a short touchdown drive. And USC answered with a long touchdown drive just before halftime to knot the game at 14.
Marks took an active streak into today’s game of 56 consecutive games with a reception. He did not make a catch in the game today and unfortunately that streak will end in his final college game.
