WR Kohen Brown Decommits from USC

Three-star Waxahachie (TX) wide receiver Kohen Brown announced his decommitent from USC on Friday. Brown committed to USC on April 2, less than a week after a very impactful first visit to Los Angeles.
Although most of the USC commits have shut down their recruitment and cancelled all official visits to tother schools, Brown intends on taking official visits in June. Since the arrival of general manager Chad Bowden, it’s been a huge priority to get top targets committed quickly. Another priority now is not having committed players visit other schools whether unofficially or officially.
It’s a situation where committed players are either all in or all out. The Trojans have chosen not to mess around with committed players looking around at other schools. This is a policy Dabo Swinney at Clemson adopted many years ago. The Trojans don’t care if it’s a three-star of a five-star player, either.
In the past months there have been quite a few USC commits who’ve publicly announced they were shutting down their recruitment, with the latest being five-star IMG Academy offensive tackle Keenyi Pepe. Based off feedback we’ve gotten, this no-visit policy could

While Brown is rated a three-star wide receiver by On3 and 247, he will almost certainly get a bump in the rankings at some point. Fans may not view this as a big loss, but he’ll likely be a very impactful receiver in college in my opinion.
As a junior, Brown finished his season with 54 receptions for 1,084 yards, averaging 20.1 yards per catch, and scored 11 touchdowns. According to the On3 Industry Ranking, he’s the No. 66 overall wide receiver prospect in the country and No. 57 prospect in Texas. Those rankings are a bit off based off our evaluation of Brown, but that’s a topic for another day.
