Zach Hanson named new USC offensive line coach
USC assistant coach Zach Hanson will take over as the Trojans’ offensive line coach, filling the void created when Josh Henson left to take over the offensive coordinator position at Purdue.
Hanson has served as the USC tight ends coach for the past three seasons and added the Assistant Head Coach for Offense title ahead of the 2024 season.
“In addition to coaching our tight ends and being an outstanding recruiter, Zach has been instrumental in working with our offensive linemen at USC,” Riley said in a statement released by the school. “He’s had extensive experience coaching the offensive line at Tulsa and Kansas State. We’re excited to have Zach lead this unit and develop our offensive line.”

Before arriving at USC, he was the Tulsa offensive line coach for two seasons and helped develop seven offensive linemen on their way to receiving All-American-Athletic Conference postseason honors. That group includes Tyler Smith, a first-team All-AAC selection and an eventual first-round pick of the Dallas Cowboys.
He spent the 2019 season as a senior offensive analyst at Oklahoma under Lincoln Riley.
As a player, Hanson attended Sacramento City College prior to beginning his career at Kansas State. He was an offensive tackle for the Wildcats from 2008-11, earning All-Big 12 honors in 2011.
