Aidan Chiles nearly earned the starting job as a true freshman earlier this year at Oregon State.

While the former four-star recruit did not win out, ultimately going to DJ Uiagalelei, it was clear Chiles had a bright future. The freshman officially entered the transfer portal on Wednesday night after announcing his intention to leave Corvallis on Monday.

I have placed an RPM prediction for Michigan State to land the No. 4 transfer quarterback on the market, according to On3, with a confidence level of 70. With his former head coach, Jonathan Smith, now residing in the Big Ten at Michigan State, Chiles already has a visit planned to East Lansing this weekend to spend time with the coach and Spartans, according to On3’s SpartanMag.

The quarterback’s former offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Brian Lindgren is also now with the Spartans in the same role. It’s a no-brainer for Chiles, who will immediately be handed the starting job. Michigan State has lost three quarterbacks to the transfer portal, with only a walk-on still on its roster. Smith has not prioritized any other top quarterback name in the portal, going all in on Aidan Chiles.

Multiple sources have indicated that Chiles will land at Michigan State. The quarterback played a limited role this year but flashed in moments, throwing for 309 yards and four touchdowns. He added 79 yards and three scores on the ground, too.

Landing Aidan Chiles would be a major way to kickoff the Jonathan Smith era at Michigan State.
