Former class of 2023 Ole Miss commit Kedrick Reescano is on his way out of the program. On Tuesday, On3 learned that Reescano entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal.

The sophomore running back from New Caney, TX, a small town just north of Houston, was a highly recruited four-star recruit in the 2023 cycle. Reescano committed to Ole Miss and head coach Lane Kiffin back in December of 2022 as the nation’s no. 7 running back recruit while ranking no. 129 nationally with an industry rating of 93.5. Reesecano was also considered the 23rd-best player to come out of the state of Texas in his recruiting cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

While the recruiting sites gave the former Rebels running back modest rankings in his class, On3 was high on what he could bring to the next level. Our recruiting scouts had him ranked as a top 100 player coming in at No. 97, and he was the fifth best running back in his class, a class that included Colorado’s Dylan Edwards, Alabama’s Justice Haynes, and the top running back in the class Texas’s CJ Baxter Jr., to name a few.

Ole Miss wide receiver Zakhari Franklin enters NCAA transfer portal

Reescano isn’t the only talented offensive player from Ole Miss who recently entered the transfer portal. In fact, there have been a number of them doing so as of late, including receiver Zakhari Franklin.

Franklin parts ways with the Ole Miss program following just one season in Oxford, redshirting last year after appearing in just four games for the Rebels. He recorded four catches for 38 yards and one touchdown.

Prior to his short stint with Ole Miss, Franklin was a four-year starter at UTSA. In five seasons, he recorded 261 receptions for 3,348 and 37 touchdowns, setting a multitude of program records and posting back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons before transferring to Ole Miss ahead of the 2023 season.

Franklin played high school football at Cedar Hill in Texas, where he was a three-star prospect. He was ranked the No. 2,492 overall recruit and the No. 344 wide receiver in the 2019 cycle, according to On3’s Industry Rankings, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

As a true freshman, Franklin caught 38 passes for 491 yards and three touchdowns, upping his production as a sophomore in his first full season as a starter when he earned All-Conference USA Honorable Mention honors after posting 48 receptions for 694 receiving yards and seven touchdowns, despite missing two games.

His final two seasons in San Antonio were where he made his biggest mark for the Roadrunners. Starting in 2021, Franklin was a First-Team All-Conference USA selection after becoming the program’s all-time leader in receptions, receiving yards, and touchdown catches. He ended the season with 81 receptions for 1,027 yards and 12 touchdowns, which were all single-season records that he would break the following year. He again earned first-team All-Conference USA honors after catching 93 passes for 1,137 yards and 15 touchdowns in 2022.
