Personal Life
Peter Woods played defensive end and defensive tackle on varsity as a freshman and was a key part in Thompson winning the Alabama 7A state championship in 2019. Woods missed eight games of his sophomore season with a leg injury. But he was able to recover in time for the state championship game, where he recorded a tackle for a loss and five tackles in the Thompson victory. Thompson coach Mark Freeman says Woods is athletic enough to be an offensive player for most D-I programs. “His hands are good,” Freeman told AL.com. “He is strong and very knowledgeable. He is one of those freak kids who come along every now and then. Peter is very athletic. He could be a first-team H-back for a Division I team. He is that athletic.” Woods grew up an Alabama fan and has strong ties with the school. Woods said his father, Jermaine Woods, went to Alabama, and he has multiple uncles that went to school in Tuscaloosa. Woods’ mother is Deven Woods. Woods enjoys gaming and hanging with friends when he’s not playing football.

Both Peter Woods and Timmy Jernigan are compactly-built attacking defensive linemen who make their hay with first step quickness and pass rush ability. Woods and Jernigan aren't as big or long as their highly-rated peers but were both highly productive as high school players.
