Georgia’s coaching staff is taking advantage of a heavy night of spring games around the state of Georgia on Thursday night.

Defensive coordinator Glenn Schumann made a few stops around the state tonight checking in on a few linebacker targets in a helicopter.

He was seen flying into Grayson High School’s spring scrimmage where elite 2026 linebacker Tyler Atkinson is a major target.

Atkinson recently spoke highly of Georgia and Schumann’s ability to develop the linebacker position. He has a long relationship with Georgia’s staff. The Bulldogs offered Atkinson as a middle school prospect.

“I’d definitely point to the coaching,” Atkinson said back on May 7. “Coach Smart has been there plenty of years. He just got an extra contract added. He doesn’t plan on going anywhere. Coach Schumann has been there for like 13 years. He loves to be there, he turned down the Eagles’ defensive coordinator job just to be at Georgia. There is a lot of loyalty with the coaching staff. Since I got that Georgia offer at a young age, the majority of the coaches are still there. That right there, shows that they believe in the program and they like where they are. It’s home for them. I like the coaching staff.”

Schumann wasn’t the only Georgia coach on the road on Thursday night. Georgia offensive coordinator Mike Bobo, offensive line coach Stacy Searels and wide receiver coach James Coley were all at Westlake High School.

Westlake is the home of four-star wide receiver Travis Smith and four-star offensive lineman Juan Gaston.
