Four-Star St. Louis (MO) Christian Brothers WR Corey Simms has more than 35 offers. He also has double-digit schools reaching out to him weekly to ensure he understands he’s priority. But two schools had separated themselves from the pack as of early January. Now there are more standing out.

Although USC didn’t offer Simms until late January, USC WRs coach Dennis Simmons visited Christian Brothers and established a relationship. Simms told WeAreSC he would’ve visited USC at some point even if he hadn’t been competing in Los Angeles with California Power last weekend.

“Oh, yeah. I was coming down here regardless,” said Simms. “Coach Simmons came to my school earlier this week and offered me. I told him I was coming down, so it was just a great deal. Okay. I don’t know a lot about them, but I want to know more. I do know Caleb (Williams) came out here, they had a great quarterback, they run a good offense and have a great head coach. Amazing, Coach Simmons is amazing.

“He came by our schools. Since then we actually had a real down to earth, good conversation. It wasn’t just about football. We were talking about life, we were talking about family and about what we do outside. We were also talking about class. He’s talking about everything and I like that about him.”

Now Simms has a June 7-9 USC official visit set.

Why USC for Simms?

It may still be relatively early in the recruiting process, but with the Spring visit season approaching fast, coaches are selling their programs and telling kids what to look for when they do make it to campuses.

“Coach Simmons said they’re gonna throw the ball, they have great academics, a great support system and It feels like home,” said Simms. “And it’s not really that cold here. It’s amazing. They said this is the coldest it probably gets in the winter time.”

Missouri & Tennessee

Two schools that were standing out for Simms prior to his off-season visits, were Missouri and Tennessee.

Missouri and Tennessee will definitely get official visits,” Simms told On3. “Those are the two schools I know for sure so far. They recruit me hard, they both throw the ball, I like the coaches and I know I will take visits there before I make my decision.”

Simms plans to commit before his senior year. He visited Nebraska (Jan. 20) and Penn State (Jan. 27) last month. He was at USC on February 3. Those three schools and Michigan are recruiting him about as hard as the Tigers and the Vols.

When the No. 327 prospect in the On3 Industry Rankings commit, he will keep it simple.
